eSUN ABS+ Filament 1.75mm – The Most Reliable High-Strength ABS Plus Filament for Technical 3D Printing

The eSUN ABS+ Filament is the gold standard in ABS 3D printing material — and one of the most widely trusted engineering filaments available for makers, engineers, and professionals in India. As an enhanced version of conventional ABS, the eSUN ABS+ Filament has been chemically modified to deliver significantly higher toughness, lower warping, reduced odour, and better printability than standard ABS — while retaining everything that makes ABS the material of choice for high-heat, high-impact, and technically demanding applications. Available in multiple solid colours, this is the ABS filament that belongs in every serious maker’s filament cabinet.

What Is eSUN ABS+ Filament and Why Does It Exist?

Standard ABS has always been one of the most useful 3D printing materials — its combination of high heat resistance, impact resistance, and machinability makes it ideal for engineering parts, automotive components, and functional enclosures. However, standard ABS comes with well-known printing challenges: significant warping on large prints, layer cracking (delamination), high shrinkage, and strong fumes that require good ventilation. The eSUN ABS+ Filament was specifically developed to address all of these issues. By modifying the base ABS polymer with impact modifiers and flow enhancers, eSUN has created an ABS Plus material that is dramatically easier to print reliably — with approximately half the warping rate of standard ABS — while preserving and in many cases improving the mechanical properties that make ABS indispensable for technical applications.

Key Features of the eSUN ABS+ Filament

1. Dramatically Reduced Warping – Half the Shrinkage of Standard ABS

Warping is the most significant obstacle to reliable ABS 3D printing — as the printed part cools unevenly, internal stresses cause edges and corners to lift from the build plate, ruining hours of print time. The eSUN ABS+ Filament has a measured shrinkage rate of approximately 0.4% — compared to over 0.8% for standard ABS — which means dramatically reduced warping and delamination, particularly on large flat prints and parts with significant cross-sectional area. Combined with a heated bed and an enclosed printing environment, the eSUN ABS+ produces reliable, warp-free results on parts where standard ABS would consistently fail.

2. High Toughness and Superior Impact Resistance

The eSUN ABS+ Filament delivers exceptional mechanical performance for a desktop 3D printing material. With a tensile strength of 43 MPa, flexural strength of 66 MPa, and IZOD impact strength of 19 kJ/m², it produces parts that can absorb sudden impacts, resist bending loads, and handle real-world mechanical stress without cracking or shattering. This level of toughness makes the eSUN ABS+ the correct choice for parts that standard PLA or PLA+ simply cannot survive — automotive trim pieces, power tool housings, mechanical enclosures, load-bearing brackets, and any component that must withstand repeated physical stress.

3. High Heat Resistance – Up to 78°C

One of the most critical advantages of the eSUN ABS+ Filament over PLA and PLA+ is its significantly higher heat resistance. With a heat distortion temperature of 78°C (at 0.45 MPa load), ABS+ parts remain structurally stable in environments that would cause PLA parts to soften and deform. This makes the eSUN ABS+ the correct filament for parts used in cars (dashboard accessories, mounts, holders), near electronics (PCB enclosures, heat sink covers), in outdoor summer conditions across India, and in any environment where temperatures regularly exceed 55–60°C.

4. Low VOC and Reduced Odour vs Standard ABS

Standard ABS is well known for producing sharp, unpleasant fumes during printing due to its relatively high VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions. The eSUN ABS+ Filament has been formulated with reduced VOC content, resulting in noticeably lower odour during printing compared to standard ABS — making it more comfortable for home and office use. However, it is still strongly recommended to print in a well-ventilated space or inside an enclosed printer with active carbon filtration, as ABS+ still produces more fumes than PLA or PETG and should not be printed in completely unventilated rooms.

5. Excellent Layer Adhesion – No Delamination

Layer delamination — where printed layers separate from each other — is a common and frustrating failure mode with standard ABS, especially on tall prints with thin walls. The polymer modification in the eSUN ABS+ Filament significantly improves inter-layer bonding strength, producing parts where layers fuse together more completely and resist peeling or splitting under load. This makes the eSUN ABS+ far more suitable for printing thin-walled enclosures, mechanical parts with load paths that cross layer boundaries, and any application where Z-axis strength matters.

6. Acetone Smoothing Compatible

One of ABS’s most unique advantages over all other common 3D printing materials is its compatibility with acetone smoothing — and the eSUN ABS+ Filament fully supports this technique. By briefly exposing an ABS+ printed part to acetone vapour, the surface layer dissolves slightly and reflows, completely eliminating visible layer lines and producing a smooth, glossy, injection-moulded appearance. This post-processing technique is impossible with PLA, PETG, or TPU — making ABS+ the go-to material for any application where a factory-smooth finish is required without sanding or painting.

7. Strict Dimensional Accuracy – ±0.05mm

The eSUN ABS+ Filament is manufactured to a dimensional accuracy of ±0.05mm throughout the entire 1kg spool, using precision inline diameter monitoring during production. This tight tolerance ensures consistent feed rate, even extrusion pressure, and repeatable print quality from the start of the spool to the end. Inconsistent filament diameter is a leading cause of over-extrusion blobs, under-extrusion gaps, and mid-print clogs — the precision manufacturing of the eSUN ABS+ eliminates these risks and ensures the highest possible print quality every time.

8. Tangle-Free Winding – 410 to 425 Metres Per Spool

Every spool of eSUN ABS+ Filament contains 410 to 425 metres of filament, wound with a precision winding system that ensures consistent layering, no tangles, no overlaps, and smooth feeding from the outermost layer to the core. The spool is vacuum sealed with a desiccant bag to maintain optimal moisture content before opening. ABS+ is moderately hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture from the air over time — so the vacuum packaging ensures you receive the filament in peak condition, and resealing with a fresh desiccant after use is recommended for long-term storage.

9. Broad Printer and Slicer Compatibility

The eSUN ABS+ Filament is compatible with all FDM 3D printers that accept 1.75mm filament and have a hotend capable of reaching 260°C. This includes enclosed printers such as the Bambu Lab P1S, X1 Carbon, Bambu Lab A1 (with enclosure accessory), Creality K1 Max, Voron 2.4, Raise3D Pro series, Prusa MK4 with enclosure, Flashforge Creator Pro, and Anycubic Kobra Max. It works seamlessly with standard ABS profiles in Bambu Studio, Cura, PrusaSlicer, and OrcaSlicer.

Important Printing Tips for eSUN ABS+ Filament

To get the best possible results from your eSUN ABS+ Filament, follow these essential tips:

  • Use an enclosed printer – An enclosure retains heat around the print, dramatically reducing warping and layer delamination. The Bambu Lab P1S and X1 Carbon are ideal. For open-frame printers, a DIY enclosure or cardboard box around the printer can significantly improve results.
  • Set bed temperature to 100–110°C – A hot bed is critical for ABS+ adhesion. Cold beds cause immediate first-layer lifting.
  • Use a brim or raft on large prints – Adding a 5–10mm brim significantly improves bed adhesion and prevents corner lifting on prints with large footprints.
  • Minimise cooling fan – Run the part cooling fan at 0–20% for ABS+. Excessive cooling causes rapid thermal contraction and layer cracking.
  • Print in a ventilated space – Even with reduced VOC content, ABS+ should always be printed with adequate ventilation. Open a window or use an air purifier with a carbon filter.
  • Store with desiccant when not in use – Reseal the filament in its original vacuum bag with a fresh desiccant pack after every printing session to prevent moisture absorption.
